nomadlens is the personal photoblog of Nik Jewell.
I am currently living in the seaside town of Bude in North Cornwall. My main interest is landscape photography and most of the shots on this site are of the coast and moors of the west country (Cornwall, Devon, Dorset & Somerset).
I was interested in photography when I was young, shooting with a mixture of cheap film cameras, before finally getting my first SLR, a Pentax K1000, and a selection of lenses, which I lugged all over India and Nepal on a post-University trip. When this camera was pinched a couple of years later I did not have the money to replace it, and a long gap ensued before I acquired my first digital camera, a 3 megapixel Canon Ixus in 2005. This was replaced with a (the legendary!) Nikon Coolpix 8800, which accompanied me on a round the world trip in 2007 before I finally graduated to a Nikon D80 / 18-200 combo for a long trip in Asia in 2008. In early 2009 I bought a D300 and began the expensive business of collecting lenses for it.
Since then I have been honing both my photographic skills and learning to use Photoshop, a long journey in itself. I started this blog in early 2010 and hopefully it will show my improvements over time.
