My first ever trip to the Purbeck area of Dorset was an enjoyable one and on one glorious sunny day we had a lovely walk along Studland Beach. This is the last part of the South West Coast Path (or the first!) and the contrast in scenery and feel between here and the dramatic North Cornwall coast where I live could hardly be greater.
The beach was a wonderful golden sandy colour and I have tried hard to evoke the spirit of summer with my slightly impressionistic treatment of this image taken near Studland Point.
The offshore boats behind the walkers are in the deep water channel approaching Poole Harbour. I was quite fascinated by this channel, which allows the passage of large ships and ferries, only a very short distance from the beach.
